Keyword research as a strategic document

A spreadsheet of ten thousand keywords is not a strategy. Northern Group delivers keyword research as a decision-making document: clustered by topic, mapped to your existing or planned pages, ranked by a composite score of search volume, keyword difficulty, current position, and estimated click-through value. We use Ahrefs, Semrush, and Google Search Console in combination, supplemented by SERP-level analysis of the actual pages ranking for each cluster. This means we can tell you not just what the opportunity is, but why you can or cannot realistically compete for it within a given timeframe — and what page structure and content depth would be required to do so.

What the keyword research deliverable includes

Demand mapping

Search volume and trend data for every identified cluster, segmented by country and language — with Romanian and EU market data presented separately where relevant to your business.

Intent classification

Every keyword cluster labelled as informational, navigational, commercial, or transactional — so content briefs, landing pages, and product pages are built for the right stage of the buyer journey.

Competitive gap analysis

Side-by-side comparison of your keyword coverage versus two or three direct competitors, revealing the specific topics where a competitor holds traffic you are not yet capturing.

Content priority matrix

Clusters ranked by a composite score combining traffic potential, conversion proximity, difficulty, and your current position — so the first three months of content effort are directed at the highest-yield targets.

Limitations you should understand upfront

Keyword research produces a ranked opportunity map, not a guarantee of rankings. Actual positions depend on the quality of the content your team produces, the technical health of the pages hosting that content, and the competitive investment your rivals make after the research is delivered. Search volume figures from third-party tools carry a margin of error — typically ±20–30% versus GSC actuals once a page ranks. We flag this explicitly in every deliverable. Our research is updated on request after twelve months; markets shift and a static keyword document loses accuracy over time. We recommend treating the initial research as the foundation for a rolling six-to-twelve-month editorial calendar, not a one-time task.
